Walter L. Hejl, 92, passed away on June 2, 2026, in Batavia, New York.

Walter was a loving husband, step-father, and family man whose greatest joy in life was spending time with those he loved. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen (Donohue) Hejl; his step-son, Walter Hirtreiter, daughter in law Ping Chen, and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Hejl, and his mother, Dora (Niersman) Hejl.

Walter was a hardworking truck driver, then dairy farmer for more than forty years whose dedication and strong work ethic were evident throughout his life. Walter honorably served his country in the United States Army from January 1952 to January 1958, achieving the rank of specialist third class. He enjoyed watching the Buffalo Bills and New York Yankees, tending to his vegetable garden, and spending quiet moments at home. One of his special companions was his beloved Cockatiel, Sherman, who brought him much joy over the years.

Above all, Walter loved his family and cherished the time he spent with his wife, Kathleen. He will be remembered for his kindness, dedication to those he loved, and the steady presence he provided throughout his life.

Walter's memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
