Timothy J. Tibbs, age 70, of Batavia, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2025 at United Memorial Medical Center.
He was born on June 21, 1954, in Batavia, a son of the late Joseph A. and Elizabeth "Betty" Rodgers Tibbs.
Tim had a great passion for racing, which was a defining part of his life. For many years, he was a familiar and respected presence at both Holland and Perry Speedways. He proudly served as a dedicated pit crew member for numerous local race teams, offering his time, talent, and unwavering support. Tim’s skills extended beyond the pit — he also built and drove his own modified sportsman race car, proudly bearing the number 70. His commitment to the sport and the many friendships he forged along the way left a lasting impact on the racing community. Tim will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Surviving are his children, Joseph "Jake" (Katie) Tibbs of East Pembroke and Sarah (Austin) Quigley of Ohio; his sister, Maureen "Moe" (John) Hayes of Batavia; his niece, Melissa (Lee) Blum of Fowlerville; his nephew, Brian (Lynn) Hayes of Piffard; four great-nephews, several cousins and his longtime companion, Valerie Cordes.
Friends may call on Monday, May 26, 2025 from 2 pm to 5 pm at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 9:30 am at Ascension Parish, 15 Sumner Street, Batavia. He will be laid to rest in Grand View Cemetery, Batavia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
