Batavia - Theresa C. Irrera, age 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 4, 2026, at United Memorial Medical Center. She was born on April 22, 1932, in Batavia, a daughter of the late Joseph A. and Sarah (Guzzetta) Gerace.

Theresa lived her entire life in the Batavia community she loved so dearly. She was a hardworking woman who spent her professional years as a TV electronics inspector at GTE Sylvania and later working in the electronics division at Eastman Kodak Co., Elmgrove Plant. Her strong work ethic and attention to detail were hallmarks of her character.

Above all else, Theresa was devoted to her faith and to her family. She was a lifelong member of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church. She was an active officer of their Altar & Rosary Society, devoting countless volunteer hours to fundraising efforts and parish life, including church soup dinners, community lawn fetes, and family faith events. After St. Anthony's closed, she was a member of Resurrection Parish. Her strong faith guided her daily life.

Theresa shared more than 51 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Joseph Irrera, building a loving home. She was known for her generous heart and her love of baking and cooking for others. No gathering was complete without something made by Theresa, whether it was her famous pizza or strawberry Jello dessert. She especially loved annual Christmas cookie baking with her daughter and granddaughters.

In her later years, Theresa enjoyed caring for her grandchildren and sharing with them the pieces of Batavia she loved so much: the Richmond Memorial Library, church, local diners, and parks. Whenever possible, she attended their dance recitals, musical performances, graduations and more. She loved cheering for the Buffalo Bills with her family and cat, Rocky.

She is predeceased by her husband, Joseph Irrera and her siblings, Louis (Mildred) Gerace, Sarah (Gerald) Bateman, Joseph Gerace, and Alfred Gerace.

She is survived by her three children, Dr. Joseph (Judy) Irrera of Winter Garden, FL; Daniel Irrera of Hilton, NY; and Nina (Larry) Mortellaro of Batavia, NY. Additionally, she is survived by her grandsons: Joseph (Jen) Irrera and great-grandson Michael Joseph of Clermont, FL; John (Annie) Irrera and great-granddaughters Sophia and Adriana of Blacksburg, VA; and granddaughters: Lisa (Bradford) Krocker and great-grandchildren Emme and Nora of West Lawn, PA; Michelle (David) Dupre and great-grandchildren Ethan and Lillian of Cheektowaga, NY; and Christina (Alexander) Mortellaro Frank of Batavia, NY.

She is also survived by her beloved sisters-in-law, Carmela (James) Ambrose, Lois Gerace, and Patricia Gerace, as well as cherished nieces and nephews.
