After a courageous fight against Pulmonary Fibrosis, Sharon passed away at her home in Milton, FL under hospice care at age 74.
She was predeceased by her husband Donald "Bucky" Girven Jr, her parents Avis "Kitty" and Richard Hancock. Her brothers James and Rick Hancock, Terry Steyaert, sister Wendy Schawnberg, and brother in law Robert Cofran.
She is survived by her Children Rick Connell (Deborah Weyant) and Tammy Connell. Her Sister Nancy Cofran, Brother Jeff Steyaert (Lisa Silbernagel), Grandchildren Gregory (Julie) Lawson, Krysten Pietrantonio (Kyle Tambe), Jacob Connell (Samantha Cates), Zachary Connell (Jordan Postema), Tim Raymer, Timothy Berry, Tiffany Giffin, Michael Weyant(Cooper Shreeves), Alesha (Ross) Bradigan, Many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
Besides her family Sharon's passion was breeding, raising, and showing Maltese dogs. She would teach and educate anyone wanting to know about the breed which in turn made her a well respected mentor to many. She will be greatly missed not only by her friends and family but the Maltese dog world as well.
A ceremony will be held at the Byron Cemetery at 11:30 am on Saturday, August 16, 2025. Immediately followed by a celebration of life at the Byron Firehall (Rt 262) from 12 to 2:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name at the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
