Sally Dioguardi

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of Sally (Comins) Dioguardi, on December 28, 2025, surrounded by love.

Sally was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a cherished grandmother, a proud great-grandmother, and a beloved great-great-grandmother. Across generations, she was a steady presence—offering wisdom, warmth, and unconditional love to all who called her theirs.

Sally had a remarkable gift for making things grow—both in her beautiful gardens and in the hearts of those around her. Her gardens were her joy, and she spent countless hours tending flowers and plants with care and pride. She loved sharing that joy with others—welcoming friends, neighbors, and even strangers to walk through her gardens as if on a personal tour. If you admired a plant, chances were good she would be digging one up to send home with you, a living reminder of her kindness and generosity.

She cherished time spent with her family, especially during camping trips and yearly adventures to the Adirondacks, where laughter, stories, and simple moments became treasured memories. She had a passion for collecting meaningful items, enjoyed the art of canning, and was especially known for her zucchini relish—favored by many and lovingly shared.

Sally was also a local hairdresser for many years, and she was far more than someone who styled hair—she was a confidant, a listener, and a familiar, comforting presence in the lives of so many. Her chair was a place of conversation, connection, and care.

Her legacy lives on in blooming gardens, family traditions, shared recipes, and the countless lives she touched with her warmth and giving spirit.

She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Donald Dioguardi, her children Laurie (Scott Pickert) Chamberlain, Laverne ‘Stubby’ (Deb) Pangrazio, Crystal (Bob) Nelson, Jolie (Sam) Ferrara, her 11 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Catherine (Hunneyman) Comins and James C. Comins, her brother James C. Comins Jr., sisters Shirley Snyder and Shelia Bonk.

We invite you to join us in celebrating Sally’s life with calling hours held Saturday, January 3rd from 11:00pm to 1:00pm at H.E. Turner Funeral Home 403 East Main St. Batavia followed by a memorial service at 1:00 pm, and a burial at the Byron cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor her memory by planting something beautiful, sharing a homemade treat, or extending kindness to others—just as she always did.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
