It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rosanne Marie DeMare, a cherished resident of Elba, NY, who left this world on Monday, December 22, 2025, at the age of 61. Rosanne was born on Wednesday, August 12, 1964, and she spent her life dedicated to her family, her work, and her community.
A proud alumnus of Elba Central School, Rosanne pursued her passion for helping others by earning a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from SUNY Brockport. Her professional life was marked by two decades of dedicated service as a Social Worker and Victim's Advocate for Genesee Justice, where she touched countless lives with her compassion, strength, and unwavering commitment to justice.
Rosanne was a beacon of light to her family and friends, embodying warmth, happiness, kindness, and a spirit of selflessness. She was an active participant in numerous non-profit organizations and found great joy in spending time with her beloved granddaughter, Amelia. Her legacy of love and support will continue to inspire those who knew her.
Rosanne is survived by her loving sons, CJ (Allie) Morris and T. Daniel Smart; her devoted mother, JoAnn DeMare; and her adored granddaughter, Amelia Morris. She also leaves behind her siblings: Joe DeMare, Tony (Cathy) DeMare, Frank (Sue) DeMare, Daniel (Nadeen) DeMare, Carrie Rohan, and Mary (Dan) DeMare, along with many cherished nieces and nephews. Rosanne was preceded in death by her father, Rosario DeMare, brother-in-law Rick Rohan, and sister-in-law Carolyn Kawecka.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 26, 2025, at Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Ave., Oakfield, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A celebration of Rosanne's life will take place at a later date, where friends and family will gather to honor her memory.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rosanne’s memory to the YWCA of Genesee County, located at 301 North St., Batavia, NY, an organization close to her heart.
