Robert Alan Goras

Basom - Robert Alan Goras, age 74, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2026 at his home, surrounded with love.

He was born on May 19, 1952 in Batavia, a son of the late Adam Andrew Goras and Esther Fry Goras Macomber.

He is survived by his wife, Anita L. Wyder Goras whom he married on May 27, 1978; his daughters, Tina "Gooch" (Brett) Dieter of Elliottsburg, Pa., Lorrinda "Beep" (Edmund IV) Kraft of Oakfield, Alissa "Mimi" (Eric) Towne of Grantville, Pa. and Kaitlin "Bunk" Wattles of Basom; ten grandchildren, Jadeyn, Connor, Olivia, Bailey, Lylah, Ethan, Elijah, William, Colt and Eddie V; his siblings, Evelyn Goras of Texas, Andrew (Dorothy) Goras, Sr.of Batavia, Mildred Schiller of Jacksonville, Fla., Shirley (Vance, Sr.) Wyder of Basom, Joyce Macomber and Eileen Macomber, both of Batavia along with several nieces and nephews

He was predeceased in death by his brother Adam "John" (Marge) Goras of Texas.

He proudly served his country with the United States Marine Corps from 1971-73 earning a National Defense Service Medal and A Good Conduct Medal along with being a rifle marksman.

He was known to all as Dad, Papa and "Farmer Bob". He will be sadly missed by his wife, daughters, son in laws, grandchildren, many, many friends, pet kitties and chickens.

He loved the farm life, and watching his cows from the back deck. His all-time goal in life was retirement. He will always be well known for his kindness, his generosity, wisdom, and love of many extended family members (friends) acquired over the years.

A couple of his favorite statements were "friends are family ", "what do I know, I'm just a farmer", "all you need in life is common sense and a good sense of humor", "get back to work" but mostly "LOVE YOU MORE".

Friends may call on Saturday, September 12, 2026 from 2 pm to 4 pm at the Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Avenue, Oakfield where a time of sharing will follow at 4 pm. He will be laid to rest with military honors in Western New York National Cemetery on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at 11 am. If you are planning on attending these ceremonies, please gather at the administration building by 10:45 am.
