Richard C. Smith

Richard C. Smith, aged 59, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026.

Richard was born on March 5, 1967 in Lockport, son to Colleen K. Smith.

He had many fond memories of growing up on Edward Street in Batavia and made many lifelong friends there. Richard was honored to have spent much of his life being a coach to many basketball and softball players. He worked as a direct support professional with the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities for much of his life.

Richard found joy in watching sports, dancing, and playing board games and sports with his friends and family. He was a loving father to his three daughters, Megan M. (Bradley) Clapp, Courtney S. Smith, and Mackenzie R. Smith.

In death, Richard is reunited with his siblings William "Billy" Smith and Kimberly Lovelace, and his grandparents, Kenneth and Grace Broderick.

A celebration of Richard's life will be held on Saturday, June 20th from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Lions Park, 11 Wallace Street, Batavia.
