It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard John Allen, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather. Richard passed away peacefully on Monday, October 27th, 2025, at the age of 87.
He was born on Thursday, August 18th, 1938, in Rochester, to the late Glenn J. Allen and Ruth Ricther Allen. He is predeceased by his first wife, Grace M. Gamin Allen, who passed away on August 8, 2000, his daughter, Sheri A. Allen who passed away on February 9, 2025, his grandson, Jacob Camerera, sister-in-law, Bonnie Neindorf, and brother-in-law, Linford Gamin.
Surviving are his devoted wife, Carolyn Sholes Allen; his son, Scott (Sandra) Allen of Basom, and step-sons, Mark F. (Tina) Massaro of W. Va. and Rodney J. Massaro of Garden Grove, CA.. His memory will forever be treasured by his grandchildren, Tucker (Susanna) Allen of Bennington, Rebekah (Daniel) Avila of Alabama, NY, Jenna (Tony) Avila of Chesapeake, VA., Marissa (Jeff) Kolarz of Oakfield, Alexis Massaro and Luke Massaro. Richard was also a proud great-grandfather to Evelyn and Amelia Allen, August, Selena, and Gabriel Avila, Josephine and Aurora Kolarz, and Jaylynn Camerera. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Lori Gamin of Batavia, and his nephew, Fred (Joellen) Neindorf of Fort Smith, AR.
A dedicated businessman, Richard was the owner and operator of Glenn J. Allen and Son Electrical in Elba, where he worked tirelessly and passionately. His commitment to his community was evidenced by membership with the Elba Fire Department. He joined the fire department in 1964 was a life member, holding the positions of assistant chief and was recognized as a top responder for many years. He served with the Elba Fire Police for many years and was active with the annual Onion Festival, helping on the electrical committee.
Friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 4 to 6 pm at the Genesee Country Church, 3268 Drake Street,Road, Oakfield where a celebration of his life will immediately follow visitation at 6 pm. He will be laid to rest in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Elba. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Richard's memory to the Elba Fire Department, P.O.
