Mary Ann Fitch

Batavia - Mary Ann Fitch, 87, of Batavia passed away Saturday (September 12, 2026) at United Memorial Medical Center.

Mary was born November 23rd, 1938, to John and Catherine (Camarata) Wolcott in Batavia.

Mary will be remembered as the loving matriarch of her family. She loved and welcomed all who entered her life. She was a devoted wife to the late James Lee Fitch for 47 years. James passed away in 2009.

She will be sadly missed by her two sons. James (Monica) Fitch, Michael (Tracy) Fitch. Her loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Sara Brunner, Kyra, Bailey, Jackson, and Amelia Brunner. Michael J. Fitch, Lily, and Logan Fitch-Vogel. Casey (Nathan) Childs, Callan and Clara Childs, and Christine (Jimmy) Moore, Lucas, and Johnny Moore.

Mary is welcomed in death by the love of her life, James Lee Fitch; her parents, John and Catherine; and her siblings, Joan (Chauncey) Watches, Michael (Lori) Wolcott, Donald (Butch) Wolcott, David Wolcott, John Wolcott, and Donna Wolcott. Mary also had many nieces and nephews that she adored.

In her earlier years, Mary worked at the New York State School for the Blind for 14 years. She loved watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. Her family will cherish memories of weekend dinners, her famous meatball cookies, feeding the geese, and many other special things.

Mary was blessed to spend her final years in the loving home of her son, Michael, and his wife, Tracy. They cared for Mary and advocated for her with unwavering love, compassion, and devotion. Her final years were surrounded by the warmth of family and filled with precious moments and cherished memories. Mary especially loved her morning ritual with the family dog, Teddy, and often spoke fondly of the two of them sharing a slice of toast together-a simple moment that brought her great joy.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mary's family to help cover end-of-life costs.
