Mario Capozzolo, a devoted and beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather whose life was defined by unwavering dedication to those he loved passed away on April 16, 2026 in North Port, FL to be with the Lord. Born on March 31, 1947, in Corleto Monforte, Italy, to Arcangelo Capozzolo and Antonia Mottola, he carried the values of his hometown with him throughout his life. In 1972, he came to America to build new opportunities for his family, bringing with him a strong work ethic, deep loyalty, and a heart full of hope.
Family meant everything to him. He never missed an event, milestone, or celebration-showing up was his greatest expression of love. If there was music at a party, you could always find him on the dance floor! A true provider, he worked as a welder for the NYS Department of Transportation for over 30 years, taking immense pride in his craft. He could fix anything and made countless repairs in the homes of his loved ones.
Later in life, he fulfilled his dream of becoming a snowbird, spending several winters in Florida where he embraced sunshine, relaxation, new friendships, and the joy of living his best life - even gaining the nickname of the "Mayor" of Lakeside Plantation.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Maria; his children Arcangelo (Natasha), Michelina (Andrew), and Maria Rosa (Jessica); and his treasured grandchildren Angelina, Arcangelo Jr., Charlie, Gianna, and Natalia. He is also survived by his dear brothers Carmine and Nicola (Debra); his sister Filomena (Arturo); his in-laws Geraldina, Ciro (Giuseppina), and Raffaele; and several nieces and nephews who respected and adored him.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and hard work-one that will continue to guide and inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Friends and family may call at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 E. Main St., Batavia, NY, on Sunday, April 26, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Resurrection Parish - St. Joseph's Site, 303 E. Main St., Batavia, NY, on Monday, April 27 at 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, in loving support of his wife Maria, donations may be made to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration at www.theaftd.org.
May his memory be a blessing and his spirit live on in the hearts of those he loved.
