Lakeland, FL and Batavia – Margaret Jeanne “Peg” McIntire-Worthington, died on Sunday Morning, September 25, 2022 at The Club at Lake Gibson Nursing Home in Lakeland, Florida. She was 92.

Peg was born on October 12,1929 in Barnesboro, PA, a daughter of the late William and Mary Belle (Irvin) DeHaven.

She was a 1947 graduate of Shannock Valley High School and a 1965 graduate of St. Francis School of Practical Nursing. She attended Zanesville Community College and Ohio State University where she was certified as a Nursing Home Administrator. She had worked as a nurse at the former Genesee Memorial Hospital and Batavia Nursing Home where she became the Assistant Administrator. She was the Administrator of the Cuba Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility and retired as the Administrator of St. Joseph’s Manor in Olean.

She had attended City Church in Batavia, Victory Church and Lake Gibson Nazarene Church in Lakeland, FL. She was a member of the Guys and Gals Club, Northgate Prime Timers and was an award-winning needle pointer.

She was the mother of the late Rodney H. McIntire who died in 1976 and wife of the late Rev. Harold E. “Mac” McIntire who died in 1999 and the late George Russell “Russ” Worthington who died in 2009 and sister of the late James DeHaven, G. Donald DeHaven and Eleanor Propst and step-grandmother of the late Justin Jacobs.

Surviving are her 3 children, Linda (Duane) Chamberlain, Cinda (David) DeFreze and Randy (Colleen) McIntire all of Lakeland, FL; 5 grandchildren, Christopher (Lisa) Chamberlain of Syracuse, Shannon (Steve) Beardsley of Piffard, Gregory DeFreze of Rochester, Lisa (Christopher) Lavrey of Batavia and Jeffery McIntire (Cynthia) Reynolds) of Lakeland, FL; 14 great-grandchildren, Lindsay Chamberlain, Benjamin Chamberlain, Andrew Beardsley, Joshua Beardsley, Trenton DeFreze, Gabriella DeFreze, Jaydon DeFreze, Mackenzie Lavrey, Derek McIntire, Kayla McIntire and Randy McIntire II, Kayla Reynolds, Brianna Reynolds and Julia Reynolds; sisters-in-law, Lois DeHaven of Mayville and Janice Fortner of MD, Barbara McIntire of IA; brothers-in-law, Edward Worthington of Batavia and Paul (Beverly) Worthington of VA; stepchildren, George (Clara) Worthington of Marion, John Worthington of Batavia, David (Elaine) Worthington of SC and Thomas (Alyson) Worthington of NH; step-grandchildren, Heather (Jason) Wertz, Waverly (Mark) Grutadtaurio, Daniel Worthington, Winifred (Scott) Gildner, Anna (Raymond) Patnode, Patty (James) Jacobs, Kenneth (Bonnie) Worthington, Cheryl (Michael) Finn, Cara Worthington, Melinda (Brandon) Brown, Paige Worthington and Erik Worthington; step-great-grandchildren, Scott Gilder, Selma (George) Fisher, Raymond Patnode IV, Darlene (Shawn) Klineline, John Jacobs, Meghan Jacobs, Jeramy Jacobs, Samantha Finn, Abigail Finn, Caleb Finn, Brianna Worthington, Nathan Tolson and Emily Brawn; several step-great-great-children, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-nephews.

Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Friday at St. Anthony’s Church, 114 Liberty St, Batavia where Peg's funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 noon. Burial will be in Grand View Cemetery, Batavia. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Crossroads House, P.O.
