Kay N. Scroger, lifelong resident of Elba, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 21st, 2025, at the age of 83. Born in Batavia, NY, Kay lived a life dedicated to education, community service, and family.
A graduate of Elba Central School and SUNY Potsdam, Kay was a devoted first-grade teacher at Oakfield Alabama Central School for over 30 years. Kay was involved in her community, as a longtime member of the Elba Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Historical Society of Elba.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold G. Neth and Katherine M. Neth, and her husband, Donald K. Scroger.
She is survived by her sister, JoAnn Klosen of Goodview, Virginia, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In accordance with Kay's wishes, there will be no funeral services. Her family encourages those who wish to honor her memory to make donations to the Elba Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, P.O. Box 58, Elba, NY 14058, or the Historical Society of Elba, P.O. Box 24, Elba, New York 14058.
