Joyce E. Pratt

Rochester - Joyce E. Pratt, a beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 29, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on September 25, 1945, in Batavia, Joyce lived a life full of love, commitment, and generosity.

Joyce was a dedicated and hardworking individual, retiring as a technician from Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, where she worked for 34 admirable years. Her passion for technology was evident in her work both at Kodak and during her tenure at GTE Sylvania, reflecting her deep commitment to her profession.

Joyce was a former member of the Holley Baptist Church, where she contributed her time and talents notably in the children's nursery and as a Sunday school teacher. Her commitment to service continued in her retirement years, where she actively worked at the Truth and Grace Concession stands, embodying a spirit of generosity and community support.

A fervent fan of the Buffalo Bills, Joyce cherished organizing class luncheons for her Byron Bergen Class of 1963 and was fondly remembered as a Majorette in high school. Her love for volunteerism extended to her longtime support for various charitable organizations, including the Golisano Children’s Hospital, Lollypop Farm, St. Jude's Children’s Research Hospital, and the American Red Cross.

Joyce is survived by her daughter Amanda Patrick, her sisters Nancy R. Searls and Susan E. Reed, and her lifelong friend Mary Ellen Warner. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Her parents, Victor and Violet Reed, and her brother Thomas Reed precede her in death, leaving memories of joy and love in her wake.

A memorial service to honor Joyce’s life will be held at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 51 South Lake Avenue in Bergen, on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 12:00 noon. Friends and family are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate Joyce's enduring legacy. She will be laid to rest with her parents in Morganville Cemetery in a private ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Joyce’s honor to Golisano Children’s Hospital, Lollypop Farm, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or the American Red Cross.

Joyce's warmth, wisdom, and generous spirit will be dearly missed, but her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
