Joseph “Mike” Casey, Sr., of Batavia, age 80, passed away on August 9, 2025 at Orchard Rehab and Nursing Center, Medina.
He was born October 17, 1944, in Batavia, New York, a son of the late Christopher and Mary Louise (Redmond) Casey.
Mike graduated from Notre Dame High School, Batavia and went on to get his bachelors at Niagara University. He married the love of his life, Elizabeth Corcoran and together they raised three wonderful children. When he was younger he had his own paper route and worked with his father at Casey Carting Company, after taking over the business he ran it until his retirement. He enjoyed raising sheep and Sardinian donkeys (even in the city), spending time with his family, and operating his ham radio.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Casey; children, Mary Casey, Joseph Casey Jr., and Eileen Casey; grandchildren, Mia and Klanie; siblings, Christopher Thomas (Mary Ellen) Casey and Margarete Ann (late Timothy) Thornton; close friends, Edward Burns, Stephen Dispenza, Robert Bauch, Jimmy Cady and James Fix; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of H. E Turner & Co., Inc. Funeral Home, 403 E. Main Street, Batavia. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
