James A. Keller

James A. Keller (Smoker) of Bergen was born Oct 13, 1937. James passed on Dec 31, 2025 at the Batavia VA Medical Center peacefully in his sleep.

James was preceded in death by his parents Viola and Andrew Keller, sisters, Martha Shepard and Jean MacConnell, wife Wilda (Huffer), son, Jon and step daughter Merry.

He is survived by his sons Vincent and Scott and their children, and stepsons Gary, Greg, Mike, Dennis, George and their children as well as several nieces and nephews.

James served in the US Navy for 4 years, retired from General Motors and was a 50 year volunteer of the Bergen Fire Department.

No one was a stranger to James as he could strike up a conversation with anyone with his smile and friendly attitude.

Graveside services, along with military honors, will be held June 20, 2026 at 11 am located at Mount Rest Cemetery Bergen, NY. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Bergen Fire Department, 10 Hunter Street, Bergen, NY 14416 in his name.
