James L. Emery

Oakfield - James L. Emery, 52, passed away on July 8, 2026.

Jimmy was born on May 19, 1974 in Batavia, the son of Jean Emery Cape and John Cape of Clarendon.

He was a graduate of Elba Central School and worked at The Rez in Basom. Jimmy enjoyed 4 wheeling, snowmobiling, riding his motorcycle and working on anything with a motor. You could always find him in the garage working on something. If someone needed a hand with anything he was quick to help. Jimmy was a strong reliable man that was dedicated to his family who he loved unconditionally. Jimmy was not only dedicated to his own family but to the Spring family as well, who he worked with for nearly 30 years. He was a fun loving guy who always had a smile on his face. There is no way to measure how much he will be missed.

Surviving along with his parents are his wife, Brianne M. Somerton Emery; his children, Brittny (Phil III) Vigneri of Oakfield, Ryan J. (Savannah) Emery of Batavia, Elliana Emery and Jamison Emery, both of Oakfield; his grandchildren, Gia and Josie Vigneri, McKenna Paolini and Luca and Finn Emery; siblings, Steven (Trisha) Werth of Elba, Dawn (Mike) Stoll of Elba and Lance (Michelle) Werth of Kendall; brothers-in-law, Justin Jaszko of Oakfield and Davey Somerton of Batavia.

Friends may call on Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm at the Oakfield Fire Department, 20 Albert Street. Services will immediately follow visitation at 2 pm at the fire hall. A celebration of Jimmy's life will follow services.
