Helen H Mullen

Stafford¸NY- Helen H. Mullen, 92, of Stafford, went home to be with her Saviour on Friday, September 4, 2026 at the LeRoy Village Green Residential Care Home.

Helen, was born July 19, 1934 in Batavia, the daughter of the late Lillian (Cook) and Edmond Slowe (Stepfather); and father James M. Hunt. She lived part of her youth with her adored Grandfather Cook and Step Grandmother Florence. She was a graduate of Batavia High School.

She married her late husband, Robert W. Mullen, on July 12, 1953 and lived most of their married life on the Mullen Family Farm. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family was the love and most important part of her life. 

Known for her leadership abilities and caring heart, she loved helping adults and children through the Stafford Grange #418, Genesee Pomona #10 and New York State Granges, the Genesee County Food Panty at the Salvation Army, Quota Club, Genesee Council of Churches Jail Ministry, Church Missions, Christmas boxes and All Babies Cherished, as well as her community and neighbors, among others. She was proud to have been a sponsor, with her husband, of a child through the International Childcare Ministries for many years. As well as being an important supporting partner of her husband's volunteer activities. Helen was a long-time member of Northgate Free Methodist Church, and the Roanoke Community Church.

She worked from a young age through her adult life at: a dairy bar, the Miss Batavia Diner, a luxury hotel and co-owned with her husband the Ro-Kay Dairy Bar in Arizona, a honored Tupperware manager, Chapin Manufacturing, McCracken Insurance and the Salvation Army.

Before moving to Leroy Village Green, she was a resident of Washington Towers in Batavia for several years.

At Leroy Village Green she enjoyed her friends and loved playing bingo, participating in the book club and art classes, as well as many other activities.

She is survived by her daughter. Jacqueline A. (Eladio Montalvo) Mullen of Puerto Rico; sons Robert W. (Regina) Mullen II of Tennessee, and Richard (Debbie) Spink of Tennessee; sister Ann M. Steinbaugh, a brother-in-law, Lester Mullen and 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren: Aziza and Kainan, along with many nieces and nephews. 

Helen is preceded in death by her parents Lillian (Cook) and Edmond Slowe (stepfather) and James M. Hunt (father). Also, by her beloved Grandpa Cook and Grandma Florence, her husband Robert W. Mullen, granddaughter Jaselis; brother, Harold (wife Reida) and sister, Mary Lou Sweeney and many brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law and their spouses.

Family and friends may call on Thursday, September 10, 2026 from 1 to 3 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main St., Batavia, where Helen's Celebration of Life service will be held at 3p.m.. In lieu of flowers. Memorials may be made to All Babies Cherished, 445 Ellicott St., Batavia, N.Y. 14020 or The Salvation Army of Batavia (Food Pantry and Community Services), 529 East Main St., Batavia, N.Y. 14020.

After cremation, Helen's burial will be at the Morganville Cemetery on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at 1 p.m.
