Gloria M. Bauer

ALABAMA CENTER - Gloria Bauer, 94, went to be with her valentine on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019 at her home while under the care of HomeCare & Hospice. She was born July 28, 1924 in Warsaw, a daughter of the late Heywood and Florence (Powers) Matteson. On April 8, 1944 she married Charles Bauer.  They were married for 64 years until his death in 2009.  She worked at Scroger Dairy in Oakfield and together with her husband cared for foster children for 13 years.  She was a member of the Alabama-Basom Methodist Church and was a Scout Leader for both boys and girls.  She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge #222 in Corfu and was part of the organization for 75 years having joined in Warsaw in 1943.  She served as a state officer in 2000-2001 as Right Herald for President Donna Miller.   Gloria is survived by her daughters, Oria (late Thomas) Karroach of Allegany, Cheryl (Gary) Heim of Clarksville, TN, Gail (Patrick) Gast of Felton, PA; sons, Terrance Bauer of Alabama Center, and Albert Bauer of Eden; sister, Ardys (late Millard) Chapman of MD.  13 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren also survive.  She is preceded in death by a son, Leslie Bauer; daughter, Karen Wawrzyniak; and a sister, Marlene (late Donald) Woodhouse. Friends may call on Monday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Avenue, Oakfield where a Rebekah Service will be held at 2:30 p.m.  Gloria's Funeral Service will be on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the spring in Alabama Cemetery.  Memorials in Gloria's name may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
