Gerald L. Tiede

Indian Falls - Gerald L. "Joe" Tiede, 75, passed away on Tuesday (May 20, 2025) at Gateway House in Attica.

Joe was born May 9, 1950 in Batavia a son of the late William and Virginia (Johnson) Tiede.

Mr. Tiede served in Vietnam with the U.S. Army from 1968-1971. He worked at the former Genesee County Nursing Home and Brand Names in Batavia. Joe moved his family to the southern tier to work at the Jamestown store for many years. Most recently, Joe was an IBA dealer where he made many friends among the Amish and farmers in Orleans and Wyoming counties. He was always fond of animals, which began at his family farm in Linden. In the present day, he had his beloved dogs Myrtle and Ira. In his free time, Joe loved to golf, bowl, and to wood work. He was an avid Giants fan his entire life.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Ann S. (Rosemark) Tiede of Indian Falls; children, Amanda (Joshua) Tiede Swimline of Corfu, Max (Jen) Falkowski of Jamestown, and Carli (Kenny) Wright of Randolph; seven grandchildren, Cory (Courtney) Falkowski, Katie Falkowski, Kyle Falkowski all of Jamestown, Adeline and Owen Wright of Randolph, Annabel and Weston Swimline of Corfu. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Joe and Ann's first great-grandchild is expected in June.

Along with his parents, Joe is reunited in death with his first wife, Margaret (Doktor) Tiede who passed away in 1982; siblings, Brian, Sandy, and Charlene; step-father, Clement Maas and a grandson Bradley John Falkowski.

Family and friends may call on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street in Batavia. Joe's Memorial Service will be held Saturday, (May 31, 2025) at 9 a.m. at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in East Bethany Cemetery.
