Batavia - George A. DiSanto, age 78, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at the New York
State Veterans Home.
He was born on October 14, 1947, in Batavia, the son of the late Anthony and Splendora Moretti DiSanto.
A graduate of Alfred State College, he retired from Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester after 38 proud years of dedicated service. He also proudly served his country in the United States Army with the 101st Airborne Division from 1968 to 1970.
For his honorable military service, he received numerous honors, badges, and medals, including the Combat Infantryman Badge, Marksmanship Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Purple Heart, Air Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Four Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Honor Medal First Class Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation, Presidential Unit Citation, and Valorous Unit Award.
He was a member of the former St. Nicholas Club in Batavia, American Legion Post No. 332, and St. Joseph's Church. A devoted Buffalo Bills fan, he enjoyed deer hunting and looked forward to weekend breakfasts with his friends. He also enjoyed a good cigar and the simple pleasures of time spent with friends, making memories and enjoying life's everyday moments.
He is predeceased by his wife, Victoria DiRisio DiSanto, who passed away on April 8, 2020.
Surviving are his sons, Michael (late Jessica Veeder) DiSanto of Virginia and Jonathan (Sherrity) DiSanto of Batavia; seven grandchildren: Jevan DiSanto, Emily DiSanto, Kady (Dylan) Capwell, Joshua DiSanto, Jayce DiSanto, Rainier DiSanto and Corbyn DiSanto; his sister, Dawn (Robin) DiSanto-Roberts of Texas along with nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is predeceased by his brother, David DiSanto.
There are no prior visiting hours. Graveside services, along with military honors, will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at 2 pm at St. Joseph's Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Activities Fund at the New York State Veterans Home, 220 Richmond Avenue, Batavia, New York 14020.
