Gary Floyd Wilkerson, 81, of Batavia, New York and Arcadia, Florida passed away peacefully on Friday, March 13, 2026 at Desoto Memorial Hospital in Arcadia, while wintering in Florida.
He was born May 23, 1944 in Buffalo, New York to the late Floyd and late Belle (Butler) Wilkerson. He loved the Lord and his family. He was a member of the First Baptist Church Arcadia, and attended Grace Baptist Church for many years.
Gray was so proud to be a part of the New York State Police for 32 years, retiring in 2002 as a Sergeant/Station Commander Troop A - Albion. Some of his last duties were in NYC after the 9/11/01 terror attack.
During retirement, Gary enjoyed being with family, reading his Bible, traveling, golfing, and rooting for the Buffalo Bills, and NY Yankees.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marla J. (Hagerman) Wilkerson. Surviving him are his children, James (Michelle) Wilkerson, and Lori Snyder. Also surviving are his step-children, Cheryl (Fredrick) Wagner, and Shelly Gott. He is further survived by 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grand children. Additional survivors are his sisters, Judy (late Charles) Heal, Gail (late Kenneth) Covel, and brother Ronald (Beverly) Wilkerson. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Gary was predeceased by his parents Floyd and Belle Wilkerson, as well as his sister Virginia (late Ed) Snell.
Family and friends may call on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Grace Baptist Church, 238 Vine Street, Batavia, New York 14020. Service will immediately follow at 1:00 pm.
Gary will be laid to rest at Grand view Cemetery, 80 Clinton Street, Batavia, New York 14020.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, New York 10306, Grace Baptist Church, 238 Vine Street, Batavia, New York 14020, or Crossroads House, 11 Liberty Street, Batavia, New York 14020.
