Elizabeth L. "Liz" Turner, 37 of East Syracuse passed away after a lengthy illness at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester on Monday (February 23, 2026) with her family and friends by her side.
Liz was born February 24, 1988 in Warsaw, a daughter of Judd and Janet (Post) Ewell of Warsaw.
Liz will be remembered as a kind, smart, witty and courageous person. She fought a long, painful battle with PSC liver disease & cholangiocarcinoma leading to the need of a liver transplant, a Whipple procedure and a host of other complications along the way. Through all of the struggles, setbacks and often extended hospital stays she always kept a positive attitude and has served as an inspiration to so many of those who loved her and were ever touched by her warmth.
Surviving along with her parents, is her husband, Frederick Turner of East Syracuse; her fur-baby, Penny; mother and father-in-law, Dale and Colleen (Derfuss) Turner of Lee Center; her core group of friends - the Saucy Seven: Christine "Chicken", Allie, Jana, Jodie, Kayla, and Sam. Many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
In death Liz is reunited with her maternal and paternal grandparents.
Liz's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to John Carlson whose selfless gift of donating a portion of his liver truly gave Liz the gift of life.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday (March 6, 2026) from 4 to 8:00 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street in Batavia. Liz's memorial service will be held on Saturday (March 7, 2026) at 11:00 a.m. at the West Middlebury Baptist Church, 4950 West Middlebury Road in East Bethany.
