Eleanor V. Eldridge, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 13th, 2025, at the age of 101. She was born on November 8th, 1924, in West Barre, daughter of the late Andrew Sanderson and Irene Pickett Sanderson and wife to the late Harry “Ed” Edgar Eldridge.
Eleanor, “Ellie” to some, was a dutiful wife and mother. She was basically a “stay-at-home” mom into the late 60’s & into the 70’s. She basically followed Ed where God led him. Ellie is now free from pain and suffering and reunited with Dad, her parents, her sister and other loved ones who have preceded her to heaven.
She was a Den Mother with the Cub Scouts and worked with the Girl Scouts. A dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church in Batavia, Eleanor was actively involved in the church's Ingraham Class and taught Sunday School for many years. Her commitment to her faith and community extended to her involvement with the Christian Women's Club, Republican Women's Club, and the YWCA. Eleanor also served as an election inspector for many years and was a proud member of the Ladies of Kiwanis.
Despite her limited capacities in later years, she still remained a witness of her Lord Jesus by simply saying “Lord help me” to her loving care givers at LeRoy Village Green.
Survived by her children, Andrew Eldridge and Elaine “Marie” (Late Frank) Butler; grandchildren, Joy (Richard) Thompson, Greg Butler, Corinne (Preston) Ptak; great grandchildren, Rebekah (Noah) Brookshire, Graclyn (Enoch) Hodges, Braedon Ptak, Nikolas Ptak, Rae Elise Ianello, Kaeleah Ptak, Eleisha Ptak, and Caedmon Ptak; great-great grandchild, Samuel Brookshire and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In death Ellie is reunited with her husband, Ed Eldridge; parents, Andrew, and Irene Sanderson; granddaughter, Kathryn Eldridge, great granddaughter, Coraline Ianello and sister, Alice Bartz.
Funeral services to honor and celebrate Eleanor's life will be held at Batavia First United Methodist Church, 8221 Lewiston Road, Batavia, on Friday, November 21st, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest in Highland Cemetery, Elkland, Pennsylvania.
