Donald F. Grower

Donald F. Grower, a beloved resident of Elba, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 14th, 2025, at the age of 89. He was born on Friday, January 3rd, 1936, in Geneva, NY.

A graduate of Oakfield-Alabama High School, Donald spent 35 years as a buyer for Amada Tool (formerly Elba Tool) in Batavia. His commitment to his work was paralleled by his devotion to the Elba Fire Department, where he served as a member and past captain of the rescue squad.
Don had a deep love for gardening, a hobby that brought him joy and peace throughout his life.

He is survived by his loving children, Donald (Marcie) Grower of Viola, DE, Debra (Rev. Vern) Saile of Byron, and Pamela (Ronald) Gefell of Elba. Donald was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren: Elizabeth (Ryan) Foster of Farmington, Nate Grower of Dover, DE, Ashley (Colin) Leathersich of Irondequoit, Zachary (Kristyn) Saile of Long Beach, CA, and Rebecka (Rich) Preedom of LeRoy. He also leaves behind five cherished great-grandchildren.

Donald is also survived by his brother-in-law, Bill (Kay) Benton of Hilton; sisters-in-law, Onolee Grower of Batavia, Mary Ellen (Don) Ames of Elba, and Linda (late John) Benton of North Chili, along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Elsie Alexander Grower; his beloved wife, Patricia A. Benton Grower, who passed away on August 20, 2009; his grandson, Matthew Saile; and his siblings, Barbara (Frank) Mikolajczyk and Charles Grower.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at visitation on Monday, December 22nd, 2025, from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia, where funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm. He will be laid to rest in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Elba.
