It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Delbert "Doc" Lynn Van Buren, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left us on April 14, 2026 surrounded by family at his home in Ocklawaha, Florida. He was 82 years old.
Doc was born in Batavia, New York on July 30, 1943, to Henry and Lucy Van Buren (Calkins). He grew up surrounded by the love of his family and carried that love throughout his life. Doc married the love of his life, Sandra Van Buren, and together they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and countless memories.
A beloved father, he took great pride in his children-Amy Wright (Alan), Kelly Page (Keri), Kimberly Osborne (Dennis), Scott Van Buren (Karen), and Wyatt Van Buren (Eilah). Doc's nurturing spirit extended to his grandchildren, including Clint Wright, Kali Wright, Carson Wright, Garrett Page, Lydia Page, Jeremy Osborne, CaSondra Wierzba, Andrew Osborne, Cassi Jo Riehle, Cody Osborne, Samantha Jakobowski, Ashley Van Buren, Jesse Van Buren, Trevor Van Buren, Caleb Van Buren, and Eli Van Buren as well as 19 great-grandchildren and numerous foster children and foster grandchildren, all of whom he adored wholeheartedly.
Doc dedicated 29 years of his life as a heavy equipment operator for Rochester Gas and Electric, where he was known for his hard work and integrity. Beyond his professional life, he was a loving teacher and mentor, sharing his wisdom and guidance with those around him. He was deeply rooted in his faith, finding solace and strength in his relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Doc was a true horseman and found joy in training horses, horseback riding, hunting, and tinkering on the family farm. Kind, generous, and honest, he embodied the values he cherished and instilled those values in his family.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 23rd, from 4 PM to 7 PM at H. E. Turner and Co. Funeral Home, located at 403 E. Main St., Batavia, New York. The funeral service will take place the following day, Friday, April 24th, at 11 AM. A celebration of Doc's life will be held at a later date in Ocklawaha, Florida, with details to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Marion County, an organization dedicated to providing compassionate care during difficult times.
As we remember Delbert "Doc" Lynn Van Buren, let us carry forward his legacy of love, kindness, and generosity, ensuring that his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
