Daniel R. Ivison, known as "Farmer" to many and "Eagle" by those who knew him best, passed away on April 18, 2026, at the age of 71, at United Memorial Medical Center.
Dan was born on September 7, 1954, in Batavia, to the late Duane and Josephine (Mogavero) Ivison. He was raised on the family dairy farm in South Byron.
Growing up, Dan helped work the farm and later took over Ivy Acres when his father retired. Farming wasn't just something Dan did - it was who he was. He spent many years milking the cows and working the land he knew so well. His happy place was on a tractor, and he loved to entertain family and friends with hay rides and farm visits. Over the years on the dairy farm, there were plenty of challenges (including the all-too-familiar frustration of cows getting out), but those moments became part of the stories the family would reminisce about for years to come.
Dan graduated from Byron-Bergen Central School in 1972, where he was a star basketball player. He cherished gatherings with family and friends at "The Pond" on the farm. Simple, good times and lasting memories were made around those unforgettable bonfires. Dan loved to joke around and make people laugh.
In addition to his years of farming, Dan worked as a team leader at Liberty Pumps until his retirement. He took pride in a hard day's work and found comfort in the routines of everyday life. He also enjoyed hanging out with his grandkids, cheering on the Buffalo Bills, and trying his luck at Batavia Downs.
Above all, Dan's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his daughter, Linsey (Donald Tobin) Ivison; his son, Casey (Janette Vick) Ivison; his cherished grandchildren, Lacie, Carter, and Jaxon; his sister, Julie (Stephen) Ivison-Libero; his former wife and longtime close friend, Lynn Ivison; along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Daniel is now reunited with his parents, Duane and Josephine Ivison; his sisters, Patricia Miller and Janet Casper; and his brother, Brian Ivison. Dan will be remembered for his sense of humor, his love of family, and the many adventures had over the years.
