Charles Baxter, 80, of Oakfield, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at United Memorial Medical Center, Batavia.
Mr. Baxter was born on May 13, 1945, in Batavia, NY, a son of the late Herbert and Ettabelle (Wilson) Baxter, and father of the late Jennifer Claire Baxter.
Charles was a past member at Scopano’s bowling leagues. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of the senior golfing team at Terry Hills country club. At home he loved gardening, and spending time with his family (especially his grandchildren). He loved going for walks on nature trails with his family and walks in the woods around his property with his grandson. He was an avid attendee of Main St. Theater productions where he enjoyed watching his granddaughter perform on stage. He worked for SB Whistler & Sons Inc. for over 40 years until his retirement in 2017.
He will be greatly missed by all, especially his family, friends and neighbors for his compassion, humor and eagerness to lend a hand. His smile will never be forgotten. He was loved by all.
Surviving is his children, Charles Baxter Jr., Stephen Baxter, and Stephanie (David) Mordell; Grandchildren, Jayden, and Lilah Mordell; brother, Richard (Judy) Baxter, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends may call from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on September 29, 2025 at Burdett and Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Ave., Oakfield, New York. Service will immediately follow visitation at 2:00pm. Charles will be laid to rest with his daughter in Cary Cemetery, 21 Albert Street, Oakfield NY. There will be a celebration of life for family and friends following the services at Oakfield United Methodist Church in the Fellowship Hall located at 2 South Main Street, Oakfield NY.
