Carol (Hart) Dilcher, 82, of Oakfield, New York, passed away after a lengthy illness on June 15, 2026.

She was born on August 22, 1943, in Bergen, daughter of the late John and June (Thomas) Hart.

Carol graduated from Byron-Bergen High School in 1962 and, on July 1, 1966, married the love of her life, Charles Dilcher, beginning a devoted marriage filled with love and cherished memories. In the late 1970s, she began her career as a seamstress at Betty's Bridal in Batavia, where she discovered a true calling. Carol later completed her career at The Wedding Dress in Geneseo, where her remarkable skill, keen eye for detail, and artistic finesse earned her the reputation of a master seamstress. She was a teacher, a guide, and passed on her love for the dying craft of bridal sewing to those she worked alongside. Through every stitch, she poured her heart into creating beautiful gowns and helping countless young women feel their very best on their special day.

Carol found joy in life's simple pleasures. A gifted seamstress, she had a lifelong passion for sewing, as well as a love for reading, cooking, and bird watching, especially the orioles and hummingbirds that visited her yard. She cherished the companionship of her friends at their exercise group and never missed an opportunity to brighten someone's day, faithfully sending cards to her family for every holiday and birthday. Above all, Carol's greatest joy was her family and bringing happiness to those around her.

Carol leaves behind her husband of 59 years, Charles Dilcher, daughter, Charyl Wood. Granddaughter, Brandi Wood, Brother-in-law Roger (Sharon) Dilcher, many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Carol was proceeded in death by her brother Kirk Hart and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Judy (Donald) Irwin.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of H. E. Turner & Co., Inc. Funeral Home, 51 South Lake Ave., Bergen. Burial will be private in Mt. Rest Cemetery, Bergen, at the convenience of the family.
