Stafford - Betty J. Ruhland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on April 16, 1953, in Kenmore, a daughter of the late Joseph Thomas and Helen Kulichik Thomas of Grand Island.
Surviving along with her mother is her husband of 19 years, Thomas A. Ruhland; her children, Katie (Justin) Tretter of Cleveland, Ohio, and Thomas (Shalyn Mapes) Steele of Stafford, along with their father, Greg Steele; her step-daughter, Beth (TJ) Henderson of Stafford; grandchildren; Adelyn, Jonas, and Rylan Tretter, who brought immense joy to her life; her sisters, Jane (Butch) Black of Eugene, Oregon, and Mary (John) Baun of Buffalo and nieces and nephews.
A dedicated professional, Betty worked as a student travel agent at First Choice Travel, Inc. in Batavia and was an active member of Anchor Christian Church in Chili, where she participated enthusiastically in the women's ministries. Alongside her husband, she found fulfillment in volunteering weekly at Highland Hospital in Rochester, offering comfort and companionship to those in need.
Friends may call on Friday, July 11, 2025 from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 2 pm at Anchor Christian Church, 375 Beaver Road, Rochester. She will be laid to rest in Stafford Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Betty's memory to the Hope Haven Center, 16 Bank Street, 2nd Floor, Batavia, New York 14020.
Betty will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her compassionate heart, and her ability to light up a room with her smile. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
