Listen to Obituary

Barbara Ann (Platt) Greenbaum, 73, of Batavia, New York, passed away on May 28, 2026, at Crossroads House in Batavia, surrounded by her family. She was born on May 3, 1953, in Batavia, the same community she would call home throughout her life.

Barbara was the daughter of Robert and Mildred (Foote) Platt, who preceded her in death. She was a dedicated daughter, caring for her parents during their later years. She shared a close bond with her siblings, Nancy Platt and James (Shelly) Platt, a relationship that always remained an important part of her life.

On July 16, 1976, Barbara married Douglas Greenbaum, a partnership that lasted 50 years. Together they built a life centered on family, love, and quiet devotion to one another. Doug was her constant companion through life's many seasons.

Barbara's greatest pride was her family. She was a loving mother to her daughter, Maggie (Matthew) Warren and her son, Jake (Nicole) Greenbaum. She found immense joy in her role as GiGi to Lucy and Patrick Warren, and Levi and Maeve Greenbaum, who were a constant source of light and happiness in her life. She was also a loving aunt to Shane and Tristan Platt.

She dedicated many years to serving the Batavia community as the Executive Director of a large apartment complex, where her intelligence, compassion, integrity, and leadership helped create a stronger and safer place for others to call home.

Those who knew Barbara remember her as someone who never sought attention for herself, yet naturally brought warmth and brightness into every room she entered. She had a gentle kindness and a wonderful sense of humor that brought comfort and happiness to those around her.

Her love for her family was steady and deep, and she was especially devoted to her grandchildren, who brought her endless joy. Above all, she will be remembered as a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, a proud GiGi, and a loving friend to those closest to her.
