Obituary of Thomas J. Mazerbo




Stafford - Thomas J. Mazerbo, age 67, of Stafford, passed on away Friday, March 1, 2019, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, surrounded by his loving family and friends who were by his side.

He was born November 27, 1951, in Medina, a son of Jean Navarra Mazerbo of Rochester and the late Anthony Mazerbo.

Tom worked for the USDA Rural Development office in Batavia for 31 years, before retiring in 2005. He served as president of the local American Federation of Government Employees for 20 years and was the proprietor for T-JAM Entertainment for many years. Tom served as DJ for many area organizations activities including: St. Rocco's Parish, Holy Family Parish, the Annual Halloween Parade for Batavia's Original, the Stafford Fireman's Carnival and the monthly dances for the Genesee County Adult with Developmental Disabilities Dance which was held in Byron. A member of the Stafford Fire Department and a social member of the Alabama Fire Department, he would announce the Stafford Fireman's Carnival Parade and the 4th of July Parade in Lyndonville. A true patriot, Tom loved his country and was proud of our veterans. An avid Buffalo Bills fan, Tom attended Northgate Free Methodist Church in Batavia and enjoyed calling and playing Bingo. He liked going to area car shows, attending his grandsons sporting events, trips to area casinos and dancing when the Coup De` Villes would play. Tom will be remembered for his sharp wit and tremendous sense of humor. Tom felt if he could make someone laugh for even five minutes, he could help them forget their problems.

Surviving along with his mother include his wife, Debra A. Reed Mazerbo, whom he married May 7, 2011. Tom and Deb had over a 40 year friendship before marrying in 2011. Also surviving are his children,  Chris (Allyson) Mazerbo of LeRoy, Bryan (Katie) Mazerbo of Byron, Amy Mazerbo of LeRoy and Sam (Rita) Vigiano of Elba; five grandchildren, Tenlee and Sophia Mazerbo, Gianna and Haylee Mazerbo and Mason Vigiano; two brothers, James Mazerbo of Spencerport and David (Judy) Mazerbo of Honeoye along with several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Tom will also be sadly missed by his dog, Sonny.

Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street in Batavia. Tom's memorial services will be held at 11 a.m.  Wednesday at the Northgate Free Methodist Church, 8160 Bank Street Road, Batavia with Rev. John Keller officiating.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tom's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorial Processing, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
