Batavia - Thomas E. Dickes, 72, of Batavia, passed away on Friday, September 28, 2018 at Strong Memorial Hospital.   Tom was born October 24, 1945 in Batavia, a son of the late Edward Dickes and Marian Hoy Dickes. A member of the First Presbyterian Church of Batavia, Mr. Dickes served the church as a deacon and trustee. An avid Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres fan, he enjoyed watching cooking shows on television and International Harvester Tractors. A longtime employee at B.R. DeWitt in Pavilion, Tom also worked for United Rentals and was currently employed at Commercial Collections. He proudly served his country with the United States Air Force from 1963-1967. He is survived by his wife, Sandra M. Dickes, whom he married October 4, 1969; his children, Brian Dickes of Batavia, Eric Dickes of Rochester and Kathleen (Brad Campbell) Dickes of Batavia; his brother, Terry (Peggy) Dickes of Batavia; his sister, Lynda Dickes of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Sharon Dickes of Batavia and Frances Dickes of Elba and several nieces and nephews. He will also be sadly missed by his faithful four-legged companion, Cody. He is the brother of the late Richard, Clyde, Neal and Gary Dickes and Elaine Kaufman and half-brother of the late Francis Hoy. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia.  Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church, 300 East Main Street, Batavia.  Tom will be laid to rest in Grand View Cemetery, Batavia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 300 East Main Street, Batavia, New York 14020.
