Oakfield - Mrs. Ruth M. Johns, 86, of Oakfield, retiree of Fisher Price in Medina, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Strong Memorial Hospital, in Rochester.
Mrs. Johns was born July 27, 1926 in Oakfield, the daughter of the late George H. and Maude Morse Harvey.
A 1945 graduate of Oakfield-Alabama High School, Mrs. Johns was a long time member of the Oakfield Community Bible Church and the Oakfield Grange. She regularly attended her class reunions and kept in contact with many of her friends from high school. Prior to her retirement from Fisher-Price, she worked at E.N. Rowell Box Factory and G.T.E. Sylvania in Batavia.
She loved watching football and was a fan of the Buffalo Bills. For 20 years, she and her husband wintered in Zephyr Hills, Florida and spent many summers camping at Fish Creek Pond in the Adirondacks.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Merton Johns; her children, Howard (Doreen) Johns and Donna (Jim) Dwyer, both of Oakfield; five grandchildren, Robert (Kathleen) Johns of Stafford, Juliette (Timothy) Hyatt of Coos Bay, Oregon, Lynnette (Michael) Morris of Oakfield, Christina (Rocco) Barbieri of Rochester and Thomas (Flora) Dwyer of San Marcos, California; six great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
