Ruth E. Gear, 93, of Batavia, a secretary at Dr. Paul Maloney DDS in Batavia, died Friday, January 18, 2013 at Batavia Health Care Center.
Mrs. Gear was born December 22, 1919 in Batavia, NY, the daughter of the late George F. and Elizabeth (Wanglien) Hess.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran church for many years where she was a member of the choir and member and treasurer of St. Paul Club. She was a teacher's assistant at the pre-school level for many years.
Her husband, Gordon Gear, died December 3, 1977.
She is survived by her dear friend, a friend for many years, LaVerne C. Cooley, Jr., of Batavia, 2 nephews, Donald (Sandra) Kellner of Williamsville and James Kellner of Florida; a niece, Alecia (Thaddeus) Rzepcki of Getzville; and 2 great- nieces.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Today, Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 31 Washington Ave., Batavia, where services will follow at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or School, 31 Washington Ave., Batavia, NY 14020. Burial will be in Grand View Cemetery, Batavia. Arrangements were completed by H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 E. Main St., Batavia, NY.
