Batavia - Mr. Patrick Joseph Suozzi, 49, of Batavia, employee at the Genesee County Highway Department in Batavia, passed away on Sunday January 27, 2013 at Highland Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Suozzi was born March 12, 1963 in Batavia, a son of Grace Carruba Suozzi of Batavia and the late Joseph Suozzi.
A graduate of Batavia High School and Genesee Community College, Pat was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Batavia. He loved hockey, playing in the men's league in Batavia for many years and later referring Batavia Rampart Hockey. An avid fisherman, he took annual fishing trips to Canada with his friends for many years. He also umpired Batavia High School baseball and reffed Pop Warner football for many years.
Pat was a devoted fan of the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres and New York Yankees.
He will be remembered as a great husband and a #1 Dad. Pat enjoyed spending Saturday mornings with his son, Patrick, at the Pok-A-Dot for breakfast. Following breakfast, they would fish at the sandwash during the summer and in the winter they would bowl at Mancuso's. He coached Patrick's soccer team this past summer.
Surviving along with his mother are his wife, MaryBeth Caruso Suozzi whom he married January 2, 2004; his son, Patrick Joseph Suozzi, II at home; his beloved dog, Jeter; loving brother of Christopher (Lisa) Suozzi of Batavia, Joseph (Jen) Suozzi of Ohio and Teresa (Mike Sikorski) Wormley of Batavia; his father and mother-in-law, Anthony "Andy" (Lucille) Caruso of Batavia; sisters-in-law, Francie Caruso of Rochester and Carin Caruso of Batavia. He was the beloved uncle to Nicolette and CJ Suozzi, Tommy Rapone, Amanda and Brittany Wormley, JP and Julianna Suozzi and Alan-Anthony and Emily Fitzsimmons. Pat is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
There are no prior visiting hours. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 303 East Main Street, Batavia. In Pat's honor, consider wearing your favorite jersey or sweatshirt of your favorite sports team for his Mass.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Consider memorials donations to Pat's family. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Batavia.
