Batavia - Michael K. McEvoy, 75 of Batavia passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia.

Mr. McEvoy was born Friday, September 27th, 1946 in Cortland, New York a son of the late Gerald McEvoy and Joyce Pursey McEvoy.

Michael attended Cortland High School and graduated in 1965. After graduation, he went to Canton Tech to pursue his degree in Technology and Buffalo State to complete his degree in Education.

He began his teaching career at Cheektowaga High School, where he spent 3 years. He spent the next decade at Sweet Home High School, before moving to Pembroke Jr./Sr. High School in 1984, where he spent the remainder of his educational career teaching technology and met his wife Susan, a music teacher. Michael and Susan married on September 28, 1985 and remained at Pembroke until their retirement.

Michael had a passion for woodworking, watercolor painting, and photography. Throughout his life, he practiced his art, including photographing weddings professionally throughout the 80s and 90s.

Michael is survived by his wife of 36 years, Susan Hoverson McEvoy of Batavia; daughters, Sara McEvoy of Boulder, Colorado, Amy (Eric) Forden of Cumming, Georgia, Katie (Mark) Weber of Ithaca, New York and Sara (Mike) Glynn of Batavia, New York; four grandchildren, Addison and Ian Glynn and Alexander and Adam Forden; his brother, Kevin (Karen) McEvoy of Cortland and his niece, Kary McEvoy (Phillip Valenta) of Whitney Point.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, February 24th, 2022 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia, NY. His Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am at St. Joseph's Church, 303 East Main Street, Batavia, NY. He will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Cortland, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to National Multiple Sclerosis Society, WNY Chapter, 1650 South Avenue, Suite 100, Rochester, New York 14620 or Visiting Nurses Association of Western New York, 650 Airborne Parkway, Cheektowaga, NY 14225.
