    August 21, 1933 - January 26, 2021

    Batavia - Margaret Shannon, 87 of Batavia, passed away on Tuesday, (January 26, 202)1 at her home under the care of HomeCare & Hospice and her loving family. Mrs. Shannon was born August 21, 1933 in Bartow, Florida a daughter of the late James C. and Lucy (Johnson) Williams. She was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Batavia where she served as the Mother of the church. She loved the Lord and enjoyed time spent at church, singing, being with her family, and caring for children. Margaret is the wife of the late C.B. Shannon; mother of the late Harold L. Peterson and Sandra Mays; and sister of the late J.C. Williams, Jr. Surviving are her children, Alberta Williams of Florida, Nathaniel (Patricia) Williams of Albion, Joanie Evans of Batavia, Angela Johnson of Colorodo, and Rhonda (Mike) Thomas of Rochester, Charlene (Jerry) Saddler. A host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive. Family and friends are invited to visitation on Saturday, (January 30, 2021) from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at City Church, 210 East Main Street in Batavia, where Margaret Shannon Funeral Service will be held immediately following visitation at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Batavia. In lieu of flowers, memorials on behalf of Margaret Shannon may be made to Union Bell Baptist Church, 407 Hollywood Farm Road, Stafford, Virginia 22405. Where her grandson Clarence E. Mays serves as pastor. Please note that the church will be restricted to 50% capacity throughout the course of visitation and the funeral service. Facial coverings and social distancing are mandatory. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Arrangements were entrusted to the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home in Batavia.
