Leo J. O'Neill, 68, of Churchville, an optical engineer at ITT (formerly Eastman Kodak Co.) in Rochester, died Thursday, July 4, 2013 at his home in Churchville.



Mr. O'Neill was born May 20, 1945 in Chicopee, MA, a son of the late James and Stella (Zielinski) O'Neill.



He graduated, with his Master's of Science degree from the University of Rochester, was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Church, former member of the Byron-Bergen School Board, active in Bergen Troop 31, Boy Scouts of America, member of the Optical Society and former teacher at RIT. He was an avid SCUBA diver and enjoyed camping canoeing, tending to his yard and nut trees. He truly believed in the benefits of higher education.



He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen (Horton) O'Neill whom he married on May 11, 1991; 3 sons, Sean O'Neill of Churchville, James O'Neill of PR and Mark O'Neill of MN; a daughter, Janet (Oleh) Zazulak of Fishers, NY; a nephew, 2 nieces and several close friends and cousins.



He was the brother of the late Richard "Dick" O'Neill.



Friends may call on Friday July 12, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 51 S. Lake St., Bergen. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 13, 2013 at St. Vincent DePaul Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to James P. Wilmot Cancer Center, 601 Elmwood Ave., Rochester, NY 14642 or to St. Vincent DePaul Church, 11 N. Main St., Churchville, NY 14428. Burial will be in St. Vincent DePaul Cemetery in Churchville.
