Batavia - Mrs. Joan S. Marchese, 75, of Batavia, died Tuesday (October 16, 2012) at the Batavia Health Care Center in Batavia.
Mrs. Marchese was born March 7, 1937 in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Lansing J. and Pearl (Wherry) Sowersby.
She was a senior E.S. clerk for the New York State Department of Labor/Unemployment Division in Batavia.
Survivors include her four children, Lance (Patty) Marchese of Honeoye Falls, Mike Marchese of Batavia, Vincenza (Randy) Marchese-Schuld of Parish, NY and Fran Marchese of New York City, NY; three grandchildren, Michael R. Marchese of Batavia; Sierra Marchese and Jenna Marchese, both of Honeoye Falls. A niece, Celinda (Harold) McQuistion, of Batavia, survives among several nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Anthony "Ace" Marchese, died in 1990. She is the sister of the late Lansing E. Sowersby.
Calling hours are Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia. Services will be at 12:00 p.m. Friday, also at the funeral home. Entombment will be in St. Joseph's Mausoleum, Batavia.
