Batavia - Mrs. Janet G. Swarts, 94, of Batavia, former resident of Alexander, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2013 at United Memorial Medical Center. Mrs. Swarts was born December 12, 1918 in North Tonawanda, a daughter of the late Edward F. and Irene Kinzly Grefrath. Mrs. Swarts was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She was also a member of the Happy Agers Senior Citizen Group of Alexander. Her husband, George R. Swarts, passed away on April 17, 2000. She is survived by her daughters, Susanne Mangan of North Syracuse and Dianne Adams of Hinsdale; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is a sister of the late Edgar, John, Donald, Nathan and Amos Grefrath and Dorothy Stamp. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 31 Washington Avenue, Batavia. Burial will be in West Bethany Cemetery, East Bethany.
