Pastor J. Autry Burling, 72, of Batavia, went to be with the Lord on Thursday (December 26, 2013) at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Buffalo.
Pastor Burling was born November 27, 1941 in Alabama City, AL, the son of Jackson and Bertie (Pruitt) Burling of Batavia.
He was a Pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Niagara Falls and was a veteran serving with the United States Marine Corps from 1960 to 1964. A member of Grace Baptist Church in Batavia, he enjoyed golfing, woodworking and spending time with his family.
Surviving along with his parents are his wife, Marlene (Bateman) Burling of Batavia; two sons, Preston (Tracy) Burling of Dillsburg, PA and Lyle (Sharie) Burling of Dunmore, PA; a daughter, Christine (Greg) Smalley of Bouckville, NY; ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 238 Vine Street, Batavia. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday also at Grace Baptist Church. Burial with full Military Honors will be in West Middlebury Cemetery, West Middlebury.
