Attica - Mr. Henry E. Schroeder, 86, of Attica, passed away September 29, 2013 at the Batavia Health Care Center.



He was born November 6, 1926 in Buffalo, the son of the late Henry J. and Grace Zulke Schroeder.



He was a 1945 graduate of Seneca High school. Henry had a career in banking which spanned 36 years. During this time he held many offices. He came to Attica in 1954 as a chief clerk and was appointed assistant manager, then manager in 1975. He was past-president of the Wyoming County Bankers' Association and Attica Lions Club. He was a member of the Attica Golf Club, Attica Masonic Lodge No. 462 F & A.M., Buffalo Shriners Club and the Consistory, as well as Ismailia Temple Camel Herders - Stable 77.



He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ and past president of the church council. He was also a member of the Attica Liberty Society and the Attica Historical Society where he was treasurer for many years. He was involved in many other activities including the Inter-Community Hospital where he was a board member, AYA and past-president of the Salvation Army. He also served as Attica Town Clerk for fourteen years.



He will be sorely missed by all his friends and family.



Surviving is his wife of 65 years, Alice Joy (Terry) Baum Schroeder of Attica; his daughter, Joy (Hollis) Upson of Batavia; his sister, Shirley Christ of Lancaster and nieces and nephews.



There are no calling hours. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 5th at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 11 Washington Street, Attica. The family requests memorials be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 11 Washington Street, Attica, New York 14011.
