    Elnora Bauer

    Batavia - Mrs. Elnora R. Bauer, 92, of Batavia, nurse at the former St. Jerome Hospital in Batavia for 25 years, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2013 at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Facility. Mrs. Bauer was born August 3, 1920 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Erwin and Ruth Houseknecht Worthington. The oldest living member of Northgate Free Methodist Church, Mrs. Bauer was an active volunteer of the church and taught Sunday School for many years. She volunteered her time with HomeCare & Hospice, Meals on Wheels, the Holland Land Office and at the teddy bear clinic at United Memorial Medical Center. She enjoyed baking and word games. Mrs. Bauer served as clerk for her late husband, Kenneth C. Bauer when he served as justice of the peace. Her husband, Kenneth C. Bauer, passed away on May 28, 1992. She is survived by her children, Bonnie (late Jim) Pinson of Oakfield, Kenneth (Dawn) Bauer of Schertz, Texas and Katherine (late Sam) Matychak of Pittsford; two brothers, Edward (Joyce) Worthington of Batavia and Paul (Beverly) Worthington of Virginia; a sister, Thelma Milner of North Chili; a sister-in-law, Peg Worthington of Batavia; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She is a sister of the late Robert and Russell Worthington and grandmother of the late Jeffrey Pinson. Friends may call on Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Northgate Free Methodist Church - South Campus, 350 Bank Street, Batavia, where her memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to All Babies Cherished, 445 Ellicott Street, Batavia, New York 14020 or to the Meals on Wheels Program, c/o Genesee County Senior Center, 2 Bank Street, Batavia, New York 14020. Burial will be in Grand View Cemetery, Batavia.
