Batavia - Elizabeth G. Gann, 97, of Batavia, died Friday, January 25, 2013 at United Memorial Medical Center, in Batavia following a brief illness. Mrs. Gann attended Geneseo Normal School and then received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Buffalo State Teachers College in 1937.
She was predeceased by her husband, Prescott A. Gann, who died in 1999.
Mr. Gann, a World War II veteran, and his family operated Gann Brothers General Store in Oakfield for many years.
Prior to her marriage to Prescott A. Gann, Mrs. Gann was married to Walter E. Bond, Jr. Mr. Bond was killed in action in 1944 while serving in the U.S. Army in Italy.
Together with other family, Mrs. Gann had two sons who survive her: Robert C. (Karin) Gann, a professor at Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York, and David E. (Marcia) Gann, an attorney, of Batavia.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to College Advancement, Hartwick College, P.O. Box 4020, Oneonta, NY 13820.
