    Doris Niebch

    August 24, 2012

Batavia - Mrs. Doris Lucille Niebch, 91, of Batavia, passed away on Friday August 24, 2012 at the Genesee County Nursing Home. Mrs. Niebch was born July 22, 1921 in Rochester. Howard and Minnie Youngs of Pavilion adopted her on May 1, 1922 as their own child. After graduation from Houghton College in 1943, she became a Registered Medical Technologist and worked for about forty years between Genesee Memorial Hospital and St. Jerome Hospital. After retirement, she worked about another ten years part time at Genesee Memorial Hospital in their blood bank. Doris enjoyed many hobbies as she went through life. Assembling a vast collection of angels over many years was one of her favorites. Later in life, she would give angels from her collection to family and friends as a way of sharing in something that she believed in. Mrs. Niebch was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Batavia for 65 years. She was very active until the summer of 2010 when her Alzheimer's Disease started to progress very quickly. She was married to Paul Niebch for 55 years until his death in 2000. They raised two children, Douglas and Sandra. Surviving are her children, Douglas Niebch and Sandra Martino; sisters, Gladys Hilchey and Beatrice Chapell of Byron; her dear friend and college roommate, Jean Rich; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and beyond. Friends may call on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Batavia, 8221 Lewiston Road, Batavia, where her services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Grand View Cemetery. Please consider memorials in Doris's name to either the First United Methodist Church of Batavia, 8221 Lewiston Road, Batavia, New York 14020 or to the Memory Unit at The Genesee County Nursing Home, 278 Bank Street, Batavia, New York 14020.
