Batavia - Mr. David A. Gooley, 66, of Batavia, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 8, 2012.
Mr. Gooley was born September 1, 1946 in Buffalo, a son of the late Maurice and Kathryn (Coyle) Gooley.
Mr. Gooley was devoted to the Lord, his family and his friends. A veteran, he served with the United States Army from 1965 to 1967 and was an avid bass angler. Mr. Gooley owned and operated Gooley's Sharpening Service for many years.
Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Nancy (Steenburn) Gooley of Batavia; two daughters, Jill (Ryan) Koziol of Rock Hill, SC and Faith (Alan) Tighe of Huntersville, NC; three grandchildren, Joshua Koziol, Mya Elizabeth Koziol and Davis Tighe; three brothers, James Murray of Valatie, NY, Michael (Lisa) Gooley of Sunnyside, NY and Mark Gooley of Guilderland, NY; five sisters, Kathleen Schrader of North Las Vegas, NV, Joyce Cunningham of Asheville, NC, Shellagh Korowski of Orange, MA, Mary (Scott) Montie of New Lebanon, NY and Rebecca Gooley of Orange, MA. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
There are no prior calling hours and all services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
