Basom - Mr. Charles W. Green, 83, of Basom, passed away and went to be with his Savior on Monday (February 11, 2013) at the Genesee County Nursing Home in Batavia.



Mr. Green was born September 26, 1929 in Alabama, the son of the late Wilbur and Mildred (Myers) Green.



Mr. Green was a member and very active with the Alabama - Basom United Methodist Church. He was a volunteer fireman and past assistant chief with the Alabama Fire Department and was a long time substitute school bus driver for the Oakfield-Alabama Central School District. Mr. Green enjoyed spending time outside and was a dairy farmer for Laura Hill Farm in Alabama until his retirement in 1994.



Survivors include a daughter, Sheri Green of Basom; two sons, Mark Green of Auburn and Todd (Ginny) Green of Scipio Center; a grandson, Nathaniel Green of Scipio Center; a granddaughter, Tiffany Green of Scipio Center; a sister, Marian Green of Basom; two nephews, Tim Hagen of Alexander and Terry (Bianca) Hagen of Washington, DC.



His wife, Shirley Green died October 28, 2004.



Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Avenue, Oakfield. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Alabama - Basom United Methodist Church, 1392 Church Street, Alabama. Burial will be in Alabama Cemetery, Alabama.
