Batavia - Mrs. Betty J. Schauf, 79, of Batavia, died Saturday (December 8, 2012) at the Buffalo General Hospital in Buffalo.



Mrs. Schauf was born April 25, 1933 in Frankfurt, KS, a daughter of the late Eben and Eva (Wheeler) Ekstrum.



Betty was a member of Alden Community Church, Darien Ladies Firemen's Auxiliary and retired from Allied Claim Services in Buffalo. She enjoyed volunteering at the Batavia Salvation Army and was an avid quilter and crafter. She also enjoyed babysitting her many grandchildren.



Survivors include her four children, Patricia A. (Randal) McKinney of Connecticut, Daniel J. (Kathryn) Corby of Colden, Lynn M. (Richard) Fisher of Darien and Bonnie S. (Daniel) Klein of Oakfield; two step-daughters, Joanna (Daniel) DiPastena of Charlotte, NC and Beth (David) Russell of Attica; a step-son, Richard Carr (Susan) Schauf of Batavia; a brother, Hubert (Lonita) Ekstrum of Texas; a sister, Bonnie Cox of Texas; eight grandchildren, Tim, Theresa, Joshua, Kenny, Scott, Douglas, Carlee and Genna; three great-grandchildren; 16 step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.



Mrs. Schauf is predeceased by her husband, Richard Charles Schauf. She is a sister of the late Charles Ekstrum, grandmother of the late Emily Klein and step-mother of the late Fay Vargo.



Calling hours are on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia. Services will be on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Darien Center.
