Batavia - Mrs. Betty Jane Johnson, 78, of Batavia, a 60 year member and 30-year employee at Batavia Assembly of God Church, went home to meet her Lord on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at her home in Batavia.



Mrs. Johnson was born February 11, 1934 in Batavia. She is predeceased by her loving father Mervin Shattuck and is survived by her mother, Viola Bartz Hale of Batavia.



A devoted and faithful member of Batavia Assembly of God, Mrs. Johnson was active in several church ministries including serving as a Sunday School Teacher, The Royal Rangers, Women's Missions, the church choir, Forever Young Seniors Group and the Children's Church.



She loved birds, flowers, especially her rose garden, singing, playing the piano and reading her Bible. She will be dearly missed by her friends and her church family at Batavia Assembly of God.



A loving wife and mother, her family will remember her as loving, vibrant, faithful, sincere and strong.



Surviving along with her mother is her beloved husband of 53 years, Clarence C. Johnson; loving children, Colonel Carl (Jo) Johnson of Clifton, Virginia, Deborah (Craig) Templin of Alcoa, Tennessee and Dorlisa (Kendall) Johnson-Cowart of Clayton, North Carolina; six grandchildren, Carl Evan and Lauren Elizabeth Johnson, Adam and Joshua Templin and Grayson and Holden Cowart; three sisters, Marion Watkins and Ruth (Arnold) Johnson, both of Farmers Branch, Texas and Pauline (David) Crossett of Batavia; along with several wonderful nieces and nephews.



There are no prior visiting hours. Betty Jane's Home Going Celebration will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Batavia Assembly of God, 24 North Spruce Street, Batavia. A graveside service will be held at the Grandview Cemetery on Clinton Street, Batavia immediately following the Going Home Celebration.
